High-altitude trek

Manaslu Circuit trek is considered as high-altitude trek. You have to reach up to top of the Larkya La Pass whose elevation is 5106 m. When you conquer this pass then it is said you have successfully completed Manaslu circuit trek.

When you reach to Philim Village, you will encounter pack animals on the trails of Manaslu Circuit. There is no road constructed from Philim onwards. In Manaslu Region, pack animals are the means of transportation. They are used to supply fuel (gas cylinders), food and other essential goods to Upper Manaslu Region. Lifestyle of local people of this region are highly dependent on the pack animals. When you encounter pack animals while following the trails, you must stand on mountain side when they pass. We advise you not stand in cliff side. Never try to touch and get closer to them.

When you trek inside the Manaslu Region, you will get chance to interact with local people of Manaslu Region. Additionally, you can witness daily activities performed by them for livelihood. You can also get insight about culture and tradition of indigenous people of this region.

Get the first Glimpse of Mount Manaslu (8163 m)

When you reach towards Sho village, you are greeted by the stunning view of Massive North face of Mount Manaslu for the first time. This is the moment all trekkers wait to view the closer look of 8th tallest mountain. Here, trekkers stop to take some photos of the stunning view of the Mount Manaslu.

Explore Tibetan-Buddhist Villages

Trek to Manaslu Region offers you explore Tibetan-Buddhist Villages like like Namrung, Lho, Samagaon, and Samdo. These villages have preserved the culture and tradition of Tibetan Buddhist. While passing these villages you can see the colorful prayer flags, chortens (Buddhist Stupas) and Mani walls.

Explore Ribung Monastery

When you reach to Lho village, you stay overnight there and next day early in the morning you climb uphill. After climbing uphill for 30 minutes, you will reach to Ribung Monastery. From this hilltop monastery, you are honored to view the sunrise over Mount Manaslu. Additionally, you can also listen the morning prayers chanted by the monk. At that moment you will feel peace.

Explore Pungyen Gompa

During your trek, you will hike to Pungyen Gompa. When you reach to this monastery, you can see prayer flag flapping in the wind and buddha statue. Additionally, you can see beautiful and meaningful painting on the wall of this monastery. From the territory of this monastery, you can get stunning view of Mount Manaslu including other snowcapped mountain and Pungyen Glacier.

This buddhist monastery is 400 years old which was destroyed in 1953 due to huge avalanche fell from snowcapped mountain. It is believed this destruction was the warning from the mountain God. This monastery was again rebuilt between 1954 to 1957 to honor the lord Pungyen who is believed as protector of Mount Manaslu.

Since this destruction, no one even try to climb Mount Manaslu without getting first blessing from the Buddhist priest at this Monastery.

Conquer Larkya La Pass

Manaslu Circuit Trek provides you the great opportunity to conquer Larkya La Pass (5160 m). Reaching to top of this pass, offers the panoramic view of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Kuru, Annapurna II and Manaslu. Additionally, you can see the many colorful prayer flags flapping in the wind.

Explore Birendra Lake

Birendra Lake is the most beautiful lake formed by glacial meltwater flowing from Manaslu Glacier. Trail following this lake is rocky and glacial. You can see the colorful prayer flags and mani stones which signify this place is influenced by Tibetan culture. This lake offers you the stunning view of Mount Manaslu, Himchuli and Ngadi Chuli. It is very quiet and crowd is very less in comparison to trekking spot in Everest and Annapurna Region. Additionally, there is no lodges or teahouses and no commercial infrastructure constructed yet.

Arriving to this turquoise glacial lake, trekkers can experience real Himalayan wilderness.

Explore Manaslu Base Camp

This trek grants you the opportunity to explore Manaslu Base Camp (4895 m). It is considered as the one of most essential hikes accessed from Samagaun (3,530 m). Reaching at the foot of Mount Manaslu, you can view the stunning view of Manaslu North Face and Manaslu Glacier. Additionally, you can also view Himalchuli (7893 m), Ngadi Chuli (7871 m) and Ganesh Himal.
