Khopra Ridge (Danda) is also known as an Annapurna Dhaulagiri Trek where the route goes through a serene train filled with awesome views of world highest mountain Dhaulagiri (7th highest mountain in the world) and Annapurna I (10th highest mountain in the world). It is very comfortable trekking area with a little off-the-beaten-path and with great views. This trek is a great choice for the trekkers in search of new destination in the Annapurna region. You will get inspired with such a rich variety of spectacular scenery, amazing mountain views, pastoral villages with rice fields layered on top of each other, descending down into the valley, peace and experience of so many diverse Himalayan Culture. You will impress with the witness of panoramic sunrise view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Hiuchuli, Nilgiri, and other peaks. In Annapurna region, this trail is quite new that leads you to experience the warm hospitality of Gurung and Magar people.

Khopra Ridge Trek of Annapurna region was raised to maintain the  economic standards of the villages in that route. As the new trekking route, the villagers of this route receiving no tourist traffic so struggling economically, this new route was introduced to improve the economic status. All the profit collected from the teahouses directly goes to the local schools and health clinic. The highlights of the trek are the hikes to Khopra Dada, Khaire Lake and Poon Hill. Khopra Trek can be done by beginners as well as the experienced travel junkies. This trek is also ideal for families with Kids. Throughout your trek, you will provide an experience license holder trekking guide and assistant for carrying your bag pack.

Itinerary

Arrive Kathmandu and check into your accommodation. Explore the bustling city and various cafes and bars during the day time. Buy all the stuff for the trekking.

Guide will take you to the Tourist Bus Park and drive together to Pokhara. You will able to see the view of countryside while driving. Even you can see the mountain view, green hills and terrace farming if the weather is good. In evening you can explore the city or ride a boat in Fewa Lake with your guide. Buy any last-minute necessities.

Today we will drive from Pokhara to Ghandruk. From here we will trek to the small village of Tadapani which is the center point of the different trek. The trial enters a lovely Rhododendron Forest and the steep incline with the view of waterfall, stream and the river. Overnight in teahouse/lodge.

Today's trek to Dobato is a steep ascent following the quiet jungle with the witness of some pheasant. Dobato is a lovely village where is high chances of getting glimpses of snow-capped mountains if the weather is clear.

Today will be the more exciting day. Early in the morning you wake up and go to see the Mulde view point where we can see the panoramic view of mountain even better than Poon Hill. Trek is descending and ascending that take you through the wide rhododendron forest with beautiful crisscrossing streams on the trail. You will follow alpine meadows and cross the same to Chistibung. One side you will get a beautiful green valley of Hills and on the other end, you have the giant snow-capped mountains. Spend the night in teahouses.

Through wide rhododendron forest with beautiful streams, you will descend and ascend with crisscrossing trail. You will enjoy the trail to Khopra Ridge with alpine meadows and the view of snowcapped mountains. The fact of this place is that you get stunning views of peaks and mountain ranges from the teahouses. Even you can see Yak from the teahouses.

Today's trek is the longest. Early in the morning we proceed towards Khayar Lake, a holy lake that is the adobe of goddess Khayer Barahi with the pack lunch. You will get a stunning view of Annapurna and Mt. Machapucchare with a decent ascent at the beginning followed by a steep trail before reaching the Khayar Lake. You will enjoy every moment when u reached. Overnight in teahouse.

Today’s hike is very pleasurable with an initial descent of over 700m with dense jungle up to Swata. The trail goes through rhododendron and oak trees in a zig zag fashion. Swata is a very beautiful village on a mountain surface surrounded by never ending terrace farms. Overnight in Tea Houses.

The trail from Swanta to Ghorepani is mostly ascents which is certainly not boring. You will be walking through wide forests and get a glimpse of Annapurna range rising high and mighty. We cross an isolated village named Chitre before Ghorepani. Overnight in Hotel.

Early in the morning, hike up to Poon Hill (3,210m) to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain ranges. Descend to Nangethati and Banthati through rhododendron forests. Continue your trek, descending steep stone steps known as "Ulleri Steps." (1,577m) and crossing suspension bridges u will reach Tikhedhunga and Hille. Drive to Pokhara. Overnight Stay in Pokhara.

Early Breakfast and leave for Tourist Bus Park with your Guide from Pokhara hotel and Drive to Kathmandu by Tourist bus. Overnight stay at same hotel in Kathmandu. Farewell Dinner.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Khopra Ridge  is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.
